Healing doesn’t always look heavy. Sometimes it sounds like laughter.

A joyful, evidence-based mind-body practice that helps release stress, regulate the nervous system, and return to the present.

WHAT IS LAUGHTER YOGA?

Laughter Yoga is a playful combination of intentional laughter, deep yogic breathing, and gentle movement designed to boost both mental and physical wellbeing. You don’t need a sense of humor, a yoga mat, or even a reason to laugh — just a willingness to try something different.

While it may start as simulated laughter, the body doesn’t know the difference — and within minutes, it often becomes genuine. Through this practice, we tap into the powerful science of breath, body, and joy.

HOW/WHY IT WORKS?

Laughter activates the parasympathetic nervous system, helping regulate stress by reducing cortisol (your body’s primary stress hormone).

  • Intentional, deep breathing increases oxygen flow to the brain and body, calming the nervous system and supporting mood regulation.

  • Laughter boosts the release of feel-good neurotransmitters like dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins — the same chemicals many antidepressants aim to increase.

  • It stimulates the vagus nerve, which is key in emotional regulation and creating a felt sense of safety in the body.

  • Group laughter can foster social connection, reduce loneliness, and activate mirror neurons that help us feel seen and understood.

Laughter Yoga is not about jokes or comedy. It’s about reclaiming joy as a body-based practice, especially when words or traditional talk therapy fall short.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Each Laughter Yoga session is designed to gently guide you from tension to release, using your own breath, body, and willingness to try something new.

We’ll begin with gentle warm-ups to connect to the body and settle in. From there, you’ll be led through guided laughter exercises — which might sound silly, but yes, even fake laughter has real effects on your mood, nervous system, and brain chemistry. (Laughter triggers endorphins, reduces stress hormones like cortisol, and increases oxygen flow — all of which help regulate mood, build resilience, and restore vitality.)

Sessions also include light movement, mindfulness practices, and time to ground and integrate, whether that’s through breathework, a short meditation, or optional group sharing.

This practice isn't about forcing positivity. It’s about gently reconnecting with presence, play, and possibility — even if things feel heavy or awkward at first.

Laughter Yoga is for anyone curious about reconnecting with joy in a grounded, body-based way — even (and especially) when life feels heavy or stressful.

This practice can be a powerful reset for:

  • Individuals seeking something different in their healing — especially if traditional talk therapy has started to feel too cerebral.

  • Burnt-out professionals, parents, or caregivers who need a space to release stress and reconnect with vitality.

  • People recovering from emotional overwhelm or trauma, looking for gentle ways to reconnect with the body and the breath.

  • Anyone who feels “stuck in their head”, disconnected from play, presence, or their own inner spark.

Laughter Yoga is also a fantastic tool for groups and communities, including:

  • Workplaces aiming to boost morale, reduce stress, improve team cohesion, and increase productivity through nervous system regulation.

  • Schools or student groups looking to support emotional wellness, motivation, and creative energy.

  • Helping professionals and healthcare workers who give a lot and need spaces that give back to them.

  • Retreats, community organizations, or wellness events that want to include embodied joy as part of their offering.

Whether you're an individual craving lightness or a team seeking deeper connection, Laughter Yoga offers a unique doorway into resilience, regulation, and real joy.
